Abstract: | This paper (together with its five supplements) presents an Optimality-Theoretic grammar model that is intended to be capable of handling 'all' of phonology: its representations with their relations, its processes with their relations, its acquisition by the child, its evolution over the generations, and its typology across languages. The goal of the model is to achieve explanatory adequacy by doing 'whole-language simulations' of the acquisition and evolution of a language. |
