BROWSE

Menu

Clicking on the “List Most Recent” link presents a list of the most recent ROAs. The header at the top of the page will tell you the range of ROAs that you are looking at and how many there are: e.g. 427-435 of 435 means that you are looking at ROAs 427 to 435 of a total of 435 entries in the ROA database.

Page Composition
There are two ways to see the ROA entries: the detailed view and the non-detailed view. To see the detailed view check the “See Details” box in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The page will then reload and show more detailed information for each entry.

The "Show [ ] entries" field next to "Show details" allows you to choose how many entries you see per page. Simply select the number you want to see and the page will reload accordingly.

Entries
An example (fake) entry is given below:

333-0899

Tone and Prominence
Paul de Lacy <delacy@linguist.umass.edu>
Abstract Download as: Chapter 1: <PDF | gz> Chapter 2: <PDF | gz >
Comments: Requires SIL Doulos font.
Length: 16 pp
Keywords: tone, scales
Areas: Phonology
Supercedes: ROA#99

Every entry starts with its ROA number followed by the month and year it was submitted. The ROA above is number 333, and was submitted in August of 1999.

Next to the ROA# is the title. If you click on the title you will see details about this entry, including the Abstract. Clicking on ‘Abstract’ will get the same result.

Underneath the title are the authors. Clicking on the author’s name or e- mail address will open an e- mail message addressed to the author.

The files follow. In some entries, files are divided into several parts. In the example above, the file entry has two parts; the first is called “Chapter 1” and the second “Chapter 2”. Each part can contain several files. Files can be accessed by clicking on the appropriate format link. For example, clicking on PDF after Chapter 1 above will download Chapter 1’s PDF file. The gz link is a compressed file – this can be decompressed using standard decompression software (e.g. pkzip, Winzip, gzip, Mac Expander).

Additional information – comments, length, keywords, and the area the paper relates to – are found below the file information. If the paper supersedes another ROA, this information will be given last.

If a paper is superseded by another entry, only its title and authors will be shown.

Navigation
You may move to a particular ROA by entering its number in the “Jump To:” box and then clicking “GO”. If you enter MAX you will be given the most recent ROA.

The Next and Previous buttons move through the ROA entries.

Resume Browsing
The Resume Browsing link differs from the List Most Recent link in that it starts with the ROA you looked at last. The ROA remembers which ROA you were looking at, how many entries you wanted to see per page, and whether you wanted to see items in detail view or not.
